Was
that a Renault Midlum or not? It turns out to be a DAF LF, just like a Renault Trafic turns out to be an Opel Vivaro. It is not unusual that manufacturers, who are offering
the same products use the same components now and then. Louis
Renault’s first car had an engine of De Dion. Many
components have been exchanged throughout the years. Especially
bodyworks and engines are hot items, with cost-saving as the main reason.
The so-called “club-of-four” cabin is a good example. It was a small
lorry cabin, developed in co-operation by Volvo, Magirus,
DAF
and Saviem in 1974 and used by Renault until 1988. Let us have a
look on everything exchanged or made in co-operation.
